Trkulja/Milenkovic – a spectacular concert to mark Banja Luka’s race for the ECoC 2024

The city of Banja Luka is undergoing accelerated preparations, both through urban development and culture programmes, for the last leg of the competition to win the prestigious title of the European capital of culture 2024.

By unveiling the new face of one of its most representative cultural institutions, at the same time a treasure of architectural heritage, Banja Luka will, on July 25th, present its programme concept “Opposites attract” with a unique and spectacular joint performance of Stefan Milenkovic and Slobodan Trkulja.

The world-famous virtuosos of classical violin music on one side and modern traditional multi-instrumental music on the other, Milenkovic and Trkulja will be accompanied by the Banja Luka Philharmonic Orchestra. The Banja Luka Philharmonic will be reinforced with musicians from Bihac and Jajce, thus bringing together three cities that have united in the application for the European capital of culture. The 44 musicians, arranged in a specific way 20:24 will additionally illustrate the wish of the people of Banja Luka to have their city laureated with this prestigious European title.

Attracting the seemingly opposite, Banja Luka will present not only different artists and musical genres, but with a “new” Banski Dvor Cultural Centre will continue to develop new cultural events and activities defined by the Strategy of cultural development of the city of Banja Luka, as a first document of its kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina, created as a result of Banja Luka’s candidacy for the European capital of culture.

The Trkulja/Milenkovic concert was organized by the Foundation Banja Luka 2024, and in cooperation with the City of Banja Luka.
