The city of Bihac has given official support for the city of Banja Luka candidacy process for the European capital of culture 2024.
“By this initiative we send certain messages that may seem unusual in our country, where people are used to conflict instead of cooperation. One of the results of today’s visit is concrete and it concerns the culture related project. The main objective is to connect the cultural scenes of Bihac and Banja Luka, to have mutual projects and to incorporate Bihac and its culture as partners to our candidacy for the European capital of culture”- stated the mayor of Banja Luka, mr Igor Radojicic, who has visited Bihac today with his team and discussed the ECoC project with the mayor Suhret Fazlic.
It was agreed that five projects from Bihac will be included in Banja Luka’s application.
“Our Banja Luka 2024 Team have already contacted the cultural operators in Bihac, and five projects will find their place in the application through a joint regional concept. We will submit our application in October to Brussels, after an arduous year and a half of work”- said Radojicic.
He finds that this regional dimension and a message that cooperation and a broad scope of concept will be recognized both in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the wider region.
The mayor of Bihac, mr Suhret Fazlic has expressed his pleasure concerning the visit of the mayor of Banja Luka to this city.
“We will support Banja Luka in their candidacy for the European capital of culture and will propose certain projects from Bihac. We are truly happy to work side by side in this. It is also a way for us to send a message to the region and the country that we are ready for cooperation and ready to tell this new and exciting story.”- concluded Fazlic.
