A three-day workshop reaches its end in the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska

The last of the three round tables within the three-day event “Creative Lab” has been held on Thursday at the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska. (MSURS)

This workshop has been organized jointly by the Ministry of education and culture of the Republic of Srpska, the City of Banja Luka, the Foundation Banja Luka 2024 and the MSURS.

The round table discussions have tackled the issue of audience development through three specific topics. The goal of the Creative Lab workshop was to bring together the representatives of cultural institutions and the independent sector.

The theme of the workshop was one of the key issues in culture – audience development – through three points of view: first day it was general issues through defining the problems and methods of audience development, second day we discussed digital tools and technologies, and on the third and final day the focus was on international cooperation, says Marko Bilbija, the Foundation Banja Luka 2024 director.

He points out that the idea was to formulate guidelines for audience development that will serve the institutions’ and the organizations’ individual strategy plans.

The idea was to have the cultural workers assembled in one room as to come to a consensus on how to tackle this problem and contribute to the cultural development synchronization, as well as to use the Banja Luka 2024 project as a catalyst of change in that direction, change that will see its benefits all the way to the year 2024, when we hopefully become the European capital of culture. – says Bilbija.

The cause for the workshop was the work on the realization and implementation of the goals defined by the voted strategic documents “Strategy of cultural development of the Republic of Srpska 2017-2022”and the “Strategy of cultural development of the city of Banja Luka 2018-2028”, as well as the second and final application book “Banja Luka 2024” for the European capital of culture 2024 call in Brussels this September.

As a reminder, Banja Luka was voted into the final round of this competition by a ten-member Panel of the European Commission last November.
